3 GORGEOUS WAYS TO WEAR DENIM- PART 2 | SATURDAY INSPIRATION

Welcome to the second part of my Denim series! A huge thank you for all the love I received from you on my social media platforms w.r.t my previous look (view here!). It really warms my heart when I am supported, it motivates me to continue doing what I love. And makes me feel amazing that my voice is acknowledged.

I haven't done 'Random' babbling for some time now and I thought HEY why not 'cause I've had crazy random epiphanies of late that I managed to place into five points. Here goes:

Random...

1. We often invest ourselves in people who don't value us or our time. Break free.

2. Some people may have 1 or 2 outta "flaws" while others have a 1000 inner. Just because yours are inner doesn't give you the leverage to judge others. (Know your place?)

3. A weak man can't love a strong woman. He wouldn't know what do with her.

4. Some 'older' folk use their age to impose power onto those seemingly 'younger'.Being in a position of 'power' as a young teacher, I've never made my students to feel 'less' than I. I didn't demand this highty tighty shitty respect, but earned it. It was through this that I became a warrior teacher. #Fearless

5. What you allow is what will continue.

About this look...

For this particular denim look I wanted to create a chic and comfortable Saturday (out with the girls) kind of outfit. I've opted to show you how I would wear the classic knee length denim dress.I like that this dress buttons all the way down so it gives the freedom to wear it open as a longer length denim shirt over fitted jeggings and a tee. Also, it's flattering for almost all body types (win!!).

To compliment my outfit 4flavour Accessories was kind enough to send over this really cool fedora inspired hat. I really love wearing hats in summer as it saves me so much time with hair styling and on top of that it gives such a chic look to a 'boring' outfit. If you a bit weary about wearing a hat try pairing it with boyfriend jeans, a statement tee, a stylish handbag and you ready for lunch with the girls. These laced heels are such an easy walk though. That's why I thought it a great idea to pair it with this Saturday outfit. You can view more of this shoe story over here!

POOFY SLEEVES

Dress Shirt and Hat, MrPrice// Shoes, Fashion Express// Jeggings, Sissy Boy
Hey Everyone!
I trust that your work week hasn't been too hectic thus far. I started work on a few Mondays and I've met my new bunch of grade 8's. So I'm still in the memorizing of names phase (which I've become pretty good at since teaching).

Anyway, when I got in touch with Miskaa Price from Iridescence Design I was quite thrilled when she agreed to do a few shots for the blog. The things that I look for in photographers are those who can give a good sense of direction, one who can make me feel comfortable when taking pics and especially the ones who love pictures to have that natural feel to it. Tip to new bloggers : when taking pics, relax your shoulders and do not be stiff. I think it shows on camera. Yeah, I might be pretty guilty of that too (Laughs).

Lets talk a little about this look. When I spotted this dress at MrPrice a few months back I loved the dress but unfortunately the store didn't have my size. So I was stuck between the letting the dress 'go' emotionally and try to move on and forget about it. Sounds dramatic eh? Then to my luck when I returned last week I saw the same dress shirt (I say 'dress shirt because one can wear it either or) and scored it for a whopping R50!

The few aspects I adore about the dress shirt is that I love this shade of orange. It gives me such a cool tanned look. The material is slightly sheer and that's why I opted to pair it with my old faithful white Sissy Boy jeggings. What is more eye catching about this shirt dress are the sleeves. I've always loved poofy sleeves but not those huge ugly ones, but the soft delicate ones that can add just enough 'oomph' to an outfit. I love the fact that I feel so 'girly' in this item. The shoes are so so comfortable and versatile and I scored them for under R200 at Fashion Express.

LOOK POST | The Midi-Skirt

Skirt, shoes MrP // Embellished top, Jet // bag, YDE// watch, Guess

When I popped into MrP the other day with absolutely no intention of buying anything, I knew that I was fooling myself. So seeing the RED sticker (you know what I'm talking about?) On one of my LUST haves being on SALE, I knew it was fate telling me to buy it (laughs).

There's really something about midi skirts that makes me feel pretty. It's definitely the cut of the midi that gives a breath of elegance to any woman and those with any body shape.  I love that the length is just below the knee because there's something about showing your knees at formal events which are just wrong! (my opinion).

This was perfect for the wedding I attended last week Saturday. The beautiful reception was held at Meerdam Plaas close to Kraaifontein. A little bit of a mission to find, we actually ended up at another wedding. (Laughs).

On a personal note, it's two weeks until my big day. I am very excited to start this new journey with my soon to be husband and new family.

Oh, in my previous post I said that this would be my last as a single woman, I guess THIS is my last... (or maybe I shouldn't speak too soon?)

Thank you for reading today!

LOOK POST | GREY MAXI

This is probably one of the last look posts that I'm putting out there as a "SINGLE" Woman!

This look I wore for an afternoon lunch with Nur. I wanted the pics to be taken before we ate cause my make-up was still fresh and i didn't want any 'melting moments' cause yesterday's heat was kinda intense. We then went to our local park and snapped a few shots while people strolled through the park. Is it only me? Or does that make you feel a little awkward? !

I love maxi dresses, especially one as fitted as this one. I also love crop tops. But would not dare to wear it just as is. Therefore, I thought that these two seemingly different pieces could help oneanother out (I love this high slit by the way!)

I hope you have an amazing week and happy Monday!

LOOK POST | The Basics

Hi guys and girls! Happy Spring!
After endless begging, my niece
agreed to snap a few shots of me in this outfit I wore to class at uni on Saturday.

Of course, I didn't wear these killer boots to class because anyone whose anyone knows that one does NOT wear heels to campus! Especially not to UWC and if you want to survive the day. All the other pieces of my outfit is what I ACTUALLY wore. Laughs.

These are my must haves for winter transition to spring:

1. The black leather/pleather biker jacket

2. Great fitted denim jeans

3. A winter hat which shapes your face well

4. Great boots, rider, heels or wedge boots are a must!

5. And of course, a brilliant lip colour!

PS: By the number of pics taken, I am sure you can tell how much I've missed blogging!

LOOK POST | THE PLEATED SKIRT

Hey Everyone, just thought I would share this look post with you. Truthfully, I was a little skeptical to be putting up this post. One: because its similar to my Modestly cropped post, well it is similar because it was taken on the SAME day and the only thing that changed was the bottoms, shoes and the way the shirt is styled. Secondly, because I got unnecessary heat on Facebook about how that post is NOT Hijaab. It wasn't meant to be. Like I didn't wake up that morning and decided to flaunt Hijaab.

I'm moody.

Damn.

Like can you sense the moody undertone in my writing?

I'm currently going through a crazy time with a LOT of things. I don't want to bore you with the deets but I am hoping that the storm passes SOON.

I know that tomorrow I will regret this, lol. Initially, I wanted to post something fun like 'HOW TO WEAR A PLEATED SKIRT', but that would be fake cos I wouldn't be passionate about it. Instead, I'm honest enough to admit that I am moody. (Laughs) Perhaps moody is not even the right word to use.

On a lighter note, I hope that you are enjoying the month of Ramadaan & please don't forget to PRAY for the people of Gaza and all people going through hardships around the world Insha-Allah. May the almighty accept all our dua's / prayers, Ameen.

Love,

LOOK POST | MODESTLY CROPPED

Hi Guys & Girls! (I feel like I haven't said that in LONG time!) It's really good to start blogging again and as you might know I am FINALLY on a three week holiday which I will use for getting closer to my creator as such an auspicious month is upon us (Ramadaan Kareem!). And also to dress more modestly in respect for the month of Ramadaan.

I suppose our biggest challenge as modest wearers is actually finding something that can be considered as 'modest'. Finding something appropriate can be a little bit of a challenge when trend forecasters are placing crop tops, short-shorts and see-through skirts in fashion! It can be quite depressing when you find that your favorite online stores have NOTHING that fits your 'modest' profile. What can we as modest wearers do??

Well, I decided that I would choose one item-which is a crop top- and convert it to somewhat modest-wear (according to me). In this look-post I have worn the traditional crop top over my check shirt and a distressed patch denim jeans. I have styled a turban (My Fav) and ended the look with these amazing cut out boots and tan handbag!

What item of clothing would you turn into 'modest' wear? And how?

Thank you for reading today!

Iptishaam

LOOK POST | FLORALS

  Hello Everyone!

I trust that you had an awesome weekend/week/month so far. I’m really not going to bore you with all my complaints that I have about how hectic my life is at the moment, (LAUGHS). That is actually reserved for a RANT post.

This look was taken a few weeks back by my amazing photographer- Kiki. Yeah? When last have you heard about her? (lol). She has been as busy as I am so in the meantime Nur takes my pics. Kiki is not my official photographer. I mean, some bloggers has specific photographers out there who are hired and paid to take their pictures for them. To me, that seems more like you are trying to build a brand (which isn’t at all a bad thing) it’s just that by doing this you might be  losing the real essence of what blogging means.

I don’t know about you, but I tend to take my camera along everywhere, not with the intention that ‘this is blog-worthy’ but when the pictures are eventually taken in really amazing parts of Cape Town, that to me makes the whole idea of being a blogger great.
It is finding that secret spots that makes blogging great, it is the unplanned look-posts, the unedited laughter that makes blogging all worth it for me.

Huh? When did this become THAT kind of post? (Laughs) You see how unplanned and untamed things are? From this might come a meaningful post. (Note: that I am not saying that what I just said is at all meaningful). Hahhaha.
Do me a favor and check out this look post?

LOOK POST | DENIM,HEELS & that HAT

Hi Everyone! Happy Holiday! I trust you had a great day.

This is going to be a quickie as I've got an assignment to type up and quite frankly I'm stealing some time over here to share my outfit that I wore today on a little date that I went on with my special someone.

I love this distressed denim shirt, beige jeggings, grey pointed heels and not forgetting the hat. I adore the hat from Mr price clothing 'cos I feel like it suits my face pretty well. I love how relaxed and chilled this look is. Not too much effort on my side, the hat and shirt shows drama while the neutral basics tones it down a little bit.

This has become like Murphey's law in fashion language:  Two loud pieces and two neutral pieces to take you from day to night = Perfect outfit <3

What are some of your laws/rules for dressing ?

Thank you for reading today <3
