FIGHTING ACNE : SKIN CARE PRODUCTS THAT ACTUALLY HELPED

Photo BY : Stitched The Blog

Hello Everyone! Happy belated Valentine's day, I hope you received all the love you know you deserve from those who are special to your heart and if you're not "involved", self-love is key. (Big hugs)
Today I'm sharing my skin care products routine that I have implemented since writing 'My acne story' which you can read over HERE!
Like every other person out there suffering from a little bit of this and that, I have tried almost every product on the commercial market with limited results. Some may work for a few months and then it would seem that my skin became sort of 'use to' the product and it just stops working ... and on to the next! The products that I will list below are those that actually made some kind of difference to the appearance of my acne. This post ain't sponsored so what I'll be sharing is completely truthful and genuine (just how I like it!). The products that I use are a combination of Dermafix ,The Body Shop, Epiduo and ZO by Skin health.

The Dermafix Active Cleansing Gel

Why it's good . . .

This deep cleansing formula thoroughly removes excess oil and surface impurities and what makes it different to other cleansers is that it is a Alpha and Beta Hydroxy cleanser which is pretty good for Acne prone skin.

The results  . . .

I use this cleanser in the morning and evening. I make sure it lathers up pretty well so that the formula really gets into the pores! Once towel dried, my skin feels supple and cleansed. And not tight and dried up (if you know what I mean..!)

The Dermafix Vitamin B cream

Why it's good . . .

This product is recommended for normal to blemished and oily skin. A complex of natural Botanical extracts, vitamins and amino acids help to moisturize and balance the skin, while natural Vitamin B complex helps to regulate the oil gland to reduce the possibility of clogged pores, inflammation and break outs.

The results  . . .

After the cleanser and TE-Pad I apply a pea size to my face focusing on my T-zone areas. The texture is not oily but rather velvety and smooth. The only thing with this product is that I wish it had some sort of sweet scent and not very medicine-ish. Maybe that's just the girl in me talking. (Laughs).

The Dermafix Dermashield SPF 40

Why it's good . . .

The Dermashield SPF 40 sunscreen provides UVA/ UVB protection . This product contains Z-Cote which protects skin from damaging UVA rays proven to be responsible for premature signs of ageing.

The results  . . .

Without a doubt, I use this product daily. Even when I don't intend heading out in the sun, I feel its important that I have a layer of sun protection. In addition, applying sunscreen also assists with pigmentation and dark marks caused by pimples.

The Dermafix Vitamin Therapy Masque

Why it's good . . .

The Vitamin Therapy Masque is a light weight, Nutrient rich, intensive treatment masque, utilizing anti-oxidants to protect the skin and prevent premature aging. This masque visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles whilst increasing the skin elasticity and boosting collagen production for healthy cell regeneration.

The results  . . .

I purchased this product based on the premise that I will be out of the country for a few months and wouldn't be able to go for my regular treatments. Since then I used it less than 10 times and have seen slow results. Perhaps it's because I wasn't consistent with the use of the product. The results that I have seen with this product is that it leaves my skin feeling even more supple and cleansed. Personally, I prefer a scrub that's more pore cleansing than 'surface' cleansing.

The Body Shop- Drops of Youth-Youth Cream

Why it's good . . .

This product is derived from the Edelweiss plant from the Italian Alps known for its protective, renewing and restructuring properties. Working together, they are infused in a smooth velvety cream to help enhance skin renewal and trigger visibly fresh, youthful looking skin at the surface.

The results  . . .

This product was recommended to me by my good friend Zaneb after talking about ways that we can maintain youthful looking skin. As the product suggests , after applying, it leaves your skin with a velvety texture. I would apply this before applying my make-up or in the evening after cleansing and using the T-pads. Again, I haven't used the product consistently to see any magical results but according to Z, it works and is definitely  a product that worked for her.
The Body Shop- Drops of Youth-Youth Eye Concentrate

Why it's good . . .

The youth eye concentrate promises skin around the eyes to be instantly firmer.

The results  . . .

When I purchased the Youth cream, I decided to add the youth eye concentrate to my basket as well! Especially because the quickest signs of aging appears around the eye area. It is recommended that if you 25 and above, you should invest in a good eye serum. The Youth Eye concentrate has visibly reduced the fine lines under my eye area and brightens my complexion. So for a 'start out Product'. It's pretty good.

ZO Skin health TE-Pads acne pore treatment

Why it's good . . .

Reduces sebum production, removes dead skin cells & deep-cleanses
congested pores using 2% salicylic acid. Botanical extracts calm & soothe for healthy skin.

The results  . . .

After suffering from a crazy stretch of hormonal acne. I was left with deep dark marks and pigmentation on areas of my chin and the side of my face. I was getting pretty fed up with my complexion that I decided I wanted to do a pretty invasive chemical peel. I then headed over to Legs Eleven and inquired about these treatments. I was advised to purchase the TE-Pad acne pore treatment. "Another product.." I thought. But let me just say that this product is BOMB. After 3 weeks of use on my chin area, the dark marks has visibly reduced and the break outs is controlled and very minimal. This product is a bit on the pricey side, but really worth the money!

Epiduo

Why it's good . . .

Epiduo Gel is the only antibiotic-free topical acne treatment with a fixed dose combination of 0.1% adapalene and 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. It helps clear up the breakouts you have now and helps prevent future pimples from forming. Adapalene is a type of retinoid, and the other medicine in Epiduo Gel. It unclogs blocked pores, helping to stop acne from forming under the skin's surface and decreasing the redness, swelling and inflammation associated with pimples.

The results  . . .

I bought this product a few months ago in Riyadh. I needed something urgently because my break outs were getting pretty out of hand. This I bought at your local pharmacy in Riyadh. Although in South Africa, one may need a prescription from your dermatologist. When I see a pimple forming, I apply a pea size to the affected areas. Over the next few days, the pimple will begin to dry out and reduce in size and color. I am happy with this product and is definitely a must-buy.

And that's it! I hope you found this post helpful and informative and that it assists you in choosing the best product for your skin.

Essence 'Keep it Perfect' make-up fixing spray Review

Essence SA was so cool to send me through an awesome make-up package that I cannot wait to blog about over here. Although I did do a little sneak peak of what was in the package a few days ago on my snap! Don't follow me yet? You can do so by typing in the handle IptixCT.

When they sent me a press release on what was NEW on the market;their make-up fixing spray was something that screamed TRY ME. I was pretty eager to try, seeing that it was spanking new and also because I literally only used two other brands before and was looking for some others. Read more for 4 things I love about this product.

4 things I love about this product . . .

1.  Lasts for more than 10 hours with a refreshing effect. Tried and tested guys.

2. So compact. The 50ml fixing spray was able to fit in my already-full make-up bag which is a total winner.

3. This product is not tested on animals.(yay!)

4.  It is fragrance free and does not weigh your make-up down as it has a light

transparent formula. The fixing spray lies on the make-up like a protective layer and ensures

a long-lasting finish.

Summer Outfit : The lace up heels

Hi Everyone!

Wow! it's been a while since I last posted and honestly speaking, I just don't have a good enough excuse as to why I haven't been posting lately. In anyway, what have I been up to? Well, I have decided to take a break from studying. Which at first was a plus for me but then I instantly felt this deep need to WANT to do something with my 'spare' time (I just can't take a break), not that I ever feel bad about it (laughs). It's just that I came to the conclusion that I can just not NOT do anything!!

I then diverted all that energy into starting a library at my school. I thought it would be a great project to keep me busy, and boy did it! After three months of hard work, at times sacrificing my holidays, myself and my team managed to open something huge for our school. When I started this idea, I didn't start this with the intention for fame or anything. But it seems to be that starting a library is a pretty huge thing in the eyes of
community Newspapers and Radio. Which brings me to the point where I would like to thank the sponsors who donated so generously to such an awesome cause! If you'd like to get involved, drop me a comment downstairs.

About this look though...

Honestly, these past few months have been so incredibly difficult for myself and fam. Heart breakingly, we lost four fam                                                                                                            members in succession and it's been so crazy for everyone. So I kindve used the time to reflect on so many things in life but more specifically my own life: I need to start LIVING. Really really living. I want to do holidays and love what I do even more, I want to inspire, encourage and better the world around me. The idea of death has placed a lot of things in perspective. So throughout all these emotions, the last thing I wanted to do was stand in front of a camera, it actually felt wrong.
Later in the shoot, it turned out to be exactly what I needed. I needed to feel the 'Normal' Iptishaam again and not the grieving one. So there I was putting my best foot forward with Zeenat from Pursuing Pictorialism. Up until the morning of I had no idea what to wear. I then just opted for whatever I had in my closet but knew that I wanted to do a transition between Summer and Autumn. The Skinny fitted and indigo jeans is a must for Autumn paired with trendy tassled inspired boots. You'll see that  I paired these beautiful lace up heels with this fitted denim piece. The mint chiffon casual shirt have always screamed summer for me when I look at my wardrobe, so I decided I'll pair it with a sleeveless blazer to give my outfit some edge of Autumn. I love the length. I wear it to work at least once a week cause it's such a cool cover up.

I am also quite STOKED that Stitched The Blog reached a 1000+ followers on Facebook and Instagram.

I'd like to thank each and every one of you who support my blog and my quest to change the lives of young people. One project at a time.

This year you can definitely expect much more from me. Better content in terms of regular Fashion look post, competitions, tips for the 21st Century woman to live at her optimum potential. Fashion Look boards, Movie/Book/Travel Reviews as well as my personal Fav, interior design and my very very personal favorite- starting a Teacher Diaries series here on Stitched.

What do you think about my future plans for the rest of the year? Drop me a comment below. You make my day!

                                                                        Love,

                                                   Iptishaam

I know that most headed back to work and I'm sure you're feeling completely refreshed and rejuvenated to start the year? or if you still find yourself yawning at your desk before lunch time, know that it's completely normal and soon you'll get into the swing of things. I am currently still on school holidays. Some would be envious about the fact that teachers get longer holidays than most, but trust me, we need it. I am already starting to feel rejuvenated and kind of ready to head back to work.

My school has handed the library project over to me which I am very excited for. So far I have  relied on donations from the sweetest people to get myself and my team started and I'd just like to say a Huge THANK YOU to those who have supported me through this venture. I am so very grateful. For those who would like to donate anything , readable books, magazines, stationary or furniture. Send me a mail and I'll get in touch with you.

About this look though...

Palazzo Pants were a huge trend in the 60's and 70's and like any other trend, it has made a huge comeback. Of course, when this shoot was taken, I didn't know that. I just rummaged through my closet looking for a Summer Day-look outfit and managed to put this together. I must say, I love palazzo pants but only when worn the right way. I paired it with this pretty blush pink  (obviously my fav colour)  top from Zara tucked in. I wore it tucked in because the entire look is already quite flowing and kind of bulky so to give it more 'form' I tucked it in. Try this if you find yourself wearing two loose items of clothing together.

The Denim Jacket from Mr P, is a must have in your closet if you don't have it already. It is the perfect item that gave my look a bit of an edge and for summer evenings where it may (or may not) become a little bit chilly, you know you've got a cover up!

My hair: I decided to do bouncy soft curls using an ordinary GHD (YES! I still own one). I love that it looks so healthy here but I feel like its too much for me to handle. So I'm thinking about the Brazilian Blow out. I've read mixed reviews about it. Have you tried it? What do you think? Do drop me a comment below. :)

Guys, I am a Brand Ambassador for the loveliest accessory brand- 4Flavour  which is available at YDE stores. If you're looking to spoil yourself  or someone special, head on over to YDE and I am sure 4Flavour accessories will have something to meet your requirements.

Watch this space for more Summer Outfit inspiration!

FEATURED : BRIDE TO BE

Hi!
Happy Woman's Month (a lil late, I know). For this month, myself and Bride to be have something special for you ladies who are tying the knot and for those of you who are preparing for the big day!

For those who were EVER involved in planning a wedding dress you'll know that it's more difficult committing to a wedding color than it is to a man. (Laughs)

Today's blog post is a little different because I get to talk to you a little about a bridal company called 'Bride-to-be.'
Bride To Be is run by Tashreeqah Sadien and her team whose aims are to make your dream wedding gown a reality! New on the scene but ready to design every little detail of your dream wedding dress and make it that extra special.

Below is a little Q & A session with Tashreeqah.

What inspired you to start a bridal business?

I got inspired to start this venture with the hope of delighting every bride with her dream wedding gown, to add magic to it and elegance. All ladies dream of their wedding day since we were tiny in the hope of having that perfect wedding gown.

Describe your bridal consultation session.

My team and I aim at making our brides dream wedding gown a reality. We aim to meet her every fancy for her dress and to make her feel special throughout her consultation with us. Our consultation is free as we take our time to listen to our bride’s requirements to ensure we have all the details to finalize her gown.

What is the process in designing your clients dream wedding gown?

We produce gowns from reference images that the bride can provide us and promise a 95% similarity to the reference image. We also have up to 150 of our own designs our bride can choose from.

What is your vision for Bride to be?

I have a huge vision for Bride to Be, from launching a jewellery line to underwear and bedding.  Everything a woman wants and needs to start the beginning of her new chapter in her life.  We are having a lot of fun!
What do you have in store for the future?

We started with producing the wedding gown and I am happy to say we have taken the flower girl on board as well.  We want to reach a point where we do the entire group.

LIFESTYLE | 5 SURVIVAL TIPS FOR WINTER

By Iptishaam Davids

I actually don't recall when IT happened. One day I was asking the learners to open the windows in my class because it was sweltering hot. I practically had to teach with a fan and had to put it on its coolest in my class. The next moment I found myself wearing a tights underneath my pants and invested in a heater for my classroom.Yes, the IT just happened. Winter has arrived.

Here are 5 easy tips to survive the 'coolest' season around:

You would find that in winter everyone commutes to work with their car due to convenience and mostly because of the weather. This makes the roads almost unbearable especially if you're traveling to the CBD. Leaving earlier, relieves the stress of traffic and keeps your time-keeper at work happy.

I know that when you come from a long day at work you cannot wait to snuggle up with your electric blanket and Pj's... but you need to think long term. When winter leaves us you will be thinking about getting your body in shape. So why don't start now? My advice would be is to pack your gym bag the night before and place it in the boot of your car, at the end of your shift, remove your work attire and put on your gym clothing. This gives you more motivation to actually go to the gym.

It's rainy and cold outside so take this time to spend time with the Le Familia indoors! Organize game night at your place. The games that you could enjoy are games like scrabble, 30 seconds and twister. Alternatively, you could have a cook-off whereby each person brings their ingredients to your home and cooks it at your place. This way you learn a new recipe and you enjoy the company of your loved ones!

Due to the increase of colder weather you will find that your hair will so start to become dry and brittle. Opt for a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and apply a treatment mask to hair every second week to prevent damage. In addition, try as often as possible to wear some form of head covering to prevent any further damage. Similarly for your skin, according to research, your skin dries out faster in winter due to the evaporation of the air and your skin doesn't produce as much oils as oppose to the other seasons. Therefore, try and look for a moisturizer that suits your skin type and apply this moisturizer in the morning and evening. In addition to this routine, also try and exfoliate every second week.

People often use this season as a time of complaints and a reason to be negative. The fact is that you cannot change the weather to suit you. So to be frank, just deal with it. Alter your daily routines so that you can enjoy the season and become a happier person in your work place and your family.

I hope these tips were helpful!

What are some of your tips on surviving the chill?

I'd love to hear,

Love,

Iptishaam
