REAL TALK : 10 random facts about me

 Hey Guys & Girls!
A few days ago Stitched was once again nominated for a Liebster Award, one for which I am so grateful for! Thank you to Nabeelah from the The Fab diary. Check her oh-so-cool blog out HERE

Nabeelah requested that the bloggers who were nominated write down 10 random facts about themselves. Honestly, I have been thinking all weekend on what to put out there as 'random' due to the fact that I consider myself to be a very basic person. (Okay,Kinda).

Here it goes:

1.I started working from the age of 17, hence the fact that I have 5 years retail experience.

2.The reason for me hating bananas is because when I was small I use to vomit every time I ate it.

3. My mother gave birth to me when she was 40. Making her 62!

4.In primary school I pretended to faint just to go home because I didn't want to write a math test.

5.Shoes over handbags, Handbags over food.

6.I'm a grade 8 English teacher.

7. My mxit name was ASIAN PERSUSION (cheezy).

8. I own one Zara Jacket which I am obsessed with.

9. If I could be a barbie doll, I'll be one of barbies' friends', the asian looking one.

10. This year will be a very busy year for me,I've started a brand new teaching job, I'm doing my honors this year and getting married. YIKES!!!

Wish me luck?

THANK YOU FOR READING

ROUTE 22 : THE AGE GAP

A few days ago (if you can say the 19th of September was a few days ago) was my birthday. No, the day didn't greet me with sunshine but with pouring rain followed by beautiful wishes from my parents. I was then collected by my Fiance and we enjoyed the rest of day dining indoors and enjoying good food and good company.I also received the best birthday present EVER- A Canon Powershot digital camera (Thanks Babe!)

And that was pretty much it.

Now I am twenty-two.

I am not ready to be twenty-two though.

Next I'll be thirty.

It sucks how life doesn't politely ask you if you ready to be a certain age, or if you can undertake certain responsibilities which comes with that age. For example, next year (God willing) I will be a qualified HIGH SCHOOL English teacher. I will need to take charge of a class in which the learners are a few years younger than what I am.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE teaching. It's truly humbling and a rewarding experience.

I just feel that my qualifications is larger than my age. Then again, when do you start when you don't start young? In addition, which job started out with the person having enough experience anyway? You learn to be an expert in your field through experience (My Fiance said this).

Undoubtedly true.

Forever young

REALITY CHECK : SAY YES !

I Recently had the opportunity to speak to one of my good friends about this and that and for some reason or the other we ended up speaking about 'seeing opportunities'. There was a slight debate on whether getting that 'perfect job' is really just Lady Luck coming your way or is it fate knocking at your door? Or maybe, is it an opportunity that presented itself and that person just applied and went for it?

When you are presented with a task/opportunity that you know will benefit you, like a computer course, do you grab such an opportunity? or do you sit back thinking 'Hey if it's mine, it's mine' and wait aimlessly for it to come to you while everyone else applies for it in your office?

When an opportunity arises in which you can enter a FAB competition, do you go 'Errrr,, Well, I don't wanna enter, I'll probably not win'?. While everyone says 'YES! who do i need to mail in order to win this?'

The reality of the matter is that: 1. You might fail miserably at Excell (I know this from experience) & 2. You might feel SO embarrassed because you poured your heart out to a leading magazine explaining why you should win a competition and in the end, you don't win.

In the same breath... 1. You might be GREAT at excell and graduate at the top of your class which will look GREAT on your resume & 2. You might win that Hairstyling Iron that costs thousands!

You see? Life can either go two ways. You win or you lose. But that is where it ends. But do not stand there and WONDER what could have been and what should have been. Take risks and be prepared to lose, and also to win.

Take the pledge to say YES to every opportunity which presents itself and see where it takes you <3
