RANT | 5 REASONS WHY I DIDN'T GIVE UP BLOGGING

I can't even remember the last time I actually sat down and blogged. Some of the reasons include: hectic days at school which completely tires me out, marking endlessly until the early hours of the morning, and with the last bit of energy I actually have left, I use to study and read books for my own assignments. Here and there I'll try to squeeze in an Instagram post or two. Needless to say, blogging has been LAST on my list of things-to-do, which made me reconsider whether or not I still want to blog? Here are five reasons why I decided to continue:

1. I am no side-line chick

I am not one to watch from the side lines while others are having a great time at events, launch parties and all that jazz. I love getting involved and being part of the action.

2. Passion

I realized that even though there wasn't enough time to blog, I still maintained that passion for the things I love the most. While driving to campus, I would think of ideas that I would want to put on the blog. In fact, putting them on the blog was about the only problem, but my passion was still there though.

3. Creative space

Blogging can be seen as my creative space in which I can just rant, vent and complain about things. Also, it has become a space where I discuss trends, fashion, beauty and lifestyle stuff. It is truly my creative outlet where I can just 'let go' of the week/months build up of creative juices. Blogging also lets me keep my sanity through everything happening around me.

4. My "fans"

This might sound vain, but I do it for the people who enjoy my posts. Sure, I might not have thousands of followers but I am grateful for the ones I do have.

5. Future PR and Marketing princess

If I didn't go into teaching I would've gone into PR. I suppose I went into teaching because it provides you with long term benefits and teaching is my other love and passion. I can say the same for PR, I definitely 'see' myself in the PR environment. I started this blog as a basis of my portfolio for meeting new people and showcasing my creative energy. It is because of this that I didn't give up blogging.

Hope you enjoyed reading my post!

LIFESTYLE | MY RANT

My rant begins...

I can't exactly remember the last time I typed something other than a formal assessment task for learners, capturing marks or typing up a last minute assignment. So this feels great to be the 'old' Iptishaam again as I was told a few days ago by my mom that I don't smile that much anymore. This really struck a chord with me because I am a really happy and smiling person - most times. I suppose that being a teacher and a student at the same time has got the better of me and has affected my 'smiling' patterns.

Being a teacher in our education system is not easy AT ALL. Whoever says it is, I suggest you stand in front of a class of 48+ and try and maintain everyone's attention all at once. What makes my life a little more challenging is that every Monday and Tuesday I have to be at campus until 7 'cause I am doing my Honors in Educational Psychology 'cause I kinda decided that I don't want to be a post level one teacher all my life. Yes, for some teachers that is 'AMAZING' but I am seeking retirement at the age of 40 and hard work needs to happen now.

So there you have it. This is the reason why I don't blog as much as I want to and HARD WORK is what keeps me from attending those fancy blogger events that I suffer major FOMO from! What I have to realize is that I need to strike a balance with everything that's happening around me.

Proof that hard work indeed does pay off, if you follow me on Instagram and Twitter, you would have seen that I am on the Deans Merit list. This award is conferred onto students who performed excellently in the year 2013. I am also on this list for the second time (link) in a row. Sure, going to fancy events is great, but academic events is only reserved for the elite in academia, and not just anyone can be invited no matter what media list you're on (laughs).

Okay, my rant is over and I feel better. (lol)

How do you feel when you cannot attend an event?

Thank you for reading today.

REALITY| 3 REASONS WHY PEOPLE STAY IN JOBS THEY HATE

Hi Everyone!

After recently starting a new temp job at a company in Black River Park, I came across plenty of people who displayed their utter hatred towards their job. I suppose that it was for this reason that I decided to write this post and ask the seemingly obvious question: why do people stay in jobs they hate?

Note that the following points are not based on scientific research or facts but rather my own observations in the work place.

1. Financial constraints

We live in a economy where everything is expensive. Hence, people can't 'afford' to chop and change jobs as they please. Even if they really want to, plenty of things need to be re-adjusted in their life, like kids, work, and social life.If the job that YOU are currently in pays for these obligations, you become more than happy to stay in it even though they hate it.

2.Too Comfortable

As mentioned before, if the job pays for ones debts and obligations one is more than happy to stay in the job. In other words people become comfortable in doing what they do. They say things like, 'i love what i do' when they really DO  NOT.They are stuck in their job because perhaps its easier than doing something else. In essence, people are afraid to take the leap of fate. They become so fearful to try out something new even if it means that they will be happier.

3. Losing sight of your dream

Remember that dream that you had in high school? the one where you wanted to be a famous soap opera star? and now you stuck in a  office working for a grumpy boss? Yes, you have loss sight of your dream and where you want to be in life, you have lost direction and allowed yourself, once again, to be comfortable.

These are just three of the main reasons that I have managed to detect from people in the work place.

What do you think are some of the reasons people stay in jobs they hate?
